Most creators struggle with ideas because they start from scratch every time. Instead, you need content buckets—repeatable themes that make idea generation effortless.
Ask yourself:
- What do I enjoy talking about?
- What do people ask me about?
- What do I want to be known for?
- Bonus: What are things that make my life or work easier?
For most people I recommend creating content about your profession. It’s the biggest career shortcut. It’ll help build your reputation, and keep you top of mind for career building opportunities.
So those idea buckets can be about your job, your skills, your craft, things that make your job easier, tips that have helped you in your profession etc etc.
Examples:
- A designer might post about portfolio tips, creative tools, and industry myths.
- A fitness creator might cover quick workouts, meal hacks, and common training mistakes.
- A filmmaker might share behind-the-scenes breakdowns, storytelling techniques, and camera gear reviews.
- A musician might share music production techniques, songwriting insights, and deep dives into hit songs.
- A photographer might cover camera settings, editing techniques, and how to work with clients.
- A marketing expert might post about brand positioning, viral content strategies, and audience growth.
- I personally post about creative tools, creative career advice, opinions on advertising/art direction, and learnings from doing both content & advertising art direction. You see? It doesn’t have to be all that refined.
