Creating content can feel overwhelming, but it’s often more mental than technical. The key is to stop overthinking, get started, and build confidence through action.
Procrastination & Overthinking
- Lower the bar: Your first videos don’t need to be perfect—they just need to be made.
- Focus on reps, not perfection: The more videos you make, the better you’ll get.
- Set a time limit: Give yourself 1 hour to script, shoot, and edit.
Overcoming Embarrassment
- Make a secret account if you want: Post without fear of judgment. You’ll be starting at 0 which isn’t good or bad. Both my TikTok and IG started in secret first until i had a couple hundred followers and I built up some confidence.
- Optional: Post a “warning video”. Beat the haters to the punch line (spoiler alert: there won’t be haters). Comedians do this well. Poke fun at your insecurity before others do. “Hey my friends, I really want to get better at content because it’s important for my work. unfollow now!”
- Remember this truth: Most people are supportive or don’t care as much as you think.
- Reframe your mindset (especially important for creatives): Your content is a tool, not your masterpiece.
