Now that you’ve got your script and know why talking to the camera works, it’s time to actually film. This should feel simple, low-stress, and repeatable.
How to Film Without Overcomplicating It
You have two main options for delivering your lines:
1️⃣ Use a Teleprompter App – CapCut has one built-in (that’s what I use), or you can use other apps.
2️⃣ Record Line by Line – No need to memorize. The iPhone camera app now has a pause button, so you can record, pause, then keep going without splitting into a zillion of clips. I personally do it all in CapCut.

Before You Start Recording
- Get comfy – Sit or stand in a way that feels natural.
- Take a deep breath – Relax your shoulders, shake out tension.
- Warn your roommates/partner – Yell out, "Hey, I'm gonna be talking to myself for a bit!" (They don’t care, but it helps.)
- Talk to yourself before recording – Say a few lines out loud to get into the flow.
Pro-tip: On iPhone, pull the exposure down before tapping record. To me, it looks a little moodier and less artificial.

I like to tap & drag down exposure on iPhone a bit
Delivering Your Lines Naturally
- Just say it normal – Don’t try to be overly energetic or perfect on your first take.
- Read through your script a couple of times before filming.
- Do a full, natural take first – Always keep a normal version before trying anything fancy.
- If you want, do another take where you emphasize certain words or tweak delivery.
