In the movie 8 Mile, Eminem’s character wins a rap battle by calling out his own flaws first, leaving nothing for his opponent to attack. We’re going to use this same strategy.
You might be thinking:
Good. Say it out loud in your first video—then post anyway.
The 8 Mile Method takes the fear out of posting because you own your insecurities before anyone else can.
If the voices in your head are stopping you from posting. Then put those voices IN the video.
No one cares as much as you think. What matters is that you start.
When I decided I wasn’t going to hold myself back anymore, I made this video. I had already been putting videos out on the internet since 2009, but I was holding myself back. Worrying about what people would think. “My coworkers are going to think I’m quitting my job”, “He thinks he can talk to camera like an influencer?!” blah blah blah.
I made this video to state my intentions.
Make fun of myself a bit.
No one needed to hear it. No one cares. It was more for me. To get over my mental hurdles.
